Tyler has past experience as the President and Director of Hockey Operations of the Halifax Lions Hockey Club (MHL). He had moved into that position after one season as the Lions head coach and general manager. Naugler had joined the Lions after serving for three successful seasons as head coach of the South Shore Mustangs of the Nova Scotia Major Midget AAA Hockey League.
